  Same for me, impossible to try the game with my twin brother. We are playing the game on PC by PC game pass

  1/2/24 - Playing on Xbox (through Game Pass) Multiplayer tab is greyed out on Home Screen. I tried just clicking on it anyway and nothing happens. I also tried going into the single player then backing out, still nothing. I even tried swapping default severs. I reset the game and my Xbox, no dice. The friend I’m trying to play with just downloaded the game tonight so I know redownloading it won’t help either.
  
  Love the game and am trying to get others to play. Unfortunately I can’t play with them.

  I'm having the same issue. Just installed and it's greyed out. Thought I might have to go through the tutorials, but it didn't work - still greyed out. Couldn't find any other reports of this online except this one which, coincidently (?) is from today as well.

  It was working for me today. Saw a Reddit post that said Shiro Games servers were down for all their games including Spice Wars, so I assume that was the issue.

  Happening for me and a friend today in March, no message on start lobby button click, joining an existing servers says requires newer version?
